Language and Social Justice

Applied linguistic research operates at the nexus of research and action. The goal is to produce empirical scholarship that allows us to better understand language in use in real world contexts.

I was recently asked to contribute a short video to a project on applied linguistics and social justice for a special interest group within the British Association of Applied Linguistics (BAAL). In it, I talk about how my research of intercultural and interreligious encounters is a way to foster and cultivate linguistic, religious and social justice.
